Wells is a thriving small town in Central BC. We are 80 km east of Quesnel in the Cariboo Mountains, adjacent to Barkerville Historic Park and Bowron Lake Provincial Park, and the second smallest municipality in BC, with a population of 250.
In the summer there is an active and vibrant arts and culture scene; one of the ten best music festivals in Canada - ArtsWells; a summer school of the arts; two live theatres; numerous cultural and sporting events; mountain bike, hiking and off-road trails; accessible alpine; canoeing on the Bowron Lake Chain; and access to Barkerville Historic Town (the largest historic site of its kind in western North America).
Our tiny population doubles in the summer with staff to support the influx of tourists visiting Wells, Barkerville and the Bowron Lakes. There is a vibrant energy, and a high percentage of the population are educated artists, performers and actors. Wells is also a historic Gold town, and still supports a gold mining industry and has an architecture that reflects its roots of the 1930's. For more information visit:
